Your Experience with the Disability Process

Good, Wonderful!  Ugly, Or Downright Ugly!

We want to know about your disability application process experience!  Did you ultimately get approved?  How long did it take you to get through the system? Have you been fighting for years?  Have you applied for benefits and been denied?  Did you give up?  What if anything do you wish you would have or could have done differently?  Please, tell us your story!

Whether you are applying for or have gone through the process already of filing for your Social Security Disability, SSI Disability, Veterans Disability, Short or Long-Term Disability benefits or needed help as a patient trying to navigate your health care.  We want to hear your “Tales from the Trenches” stories and your Success stories!

Sharing your information can sometimes go a long way in helping others to know what to expect.  No two experiences will be exactly alike, many will be similar, some will be exceptions to the rule.  We want to hear about all of them.

If you have questions or need help with navigating any disability claims process, please also feel free to post your questions or contact us directly if you wish your question to be held private.  When posting questions, do NOT provide confidential information such as social security numbers or other personal confidential information.

We look forward to hearing ALL of your Stories!

My wife was forced out of work due to a medical condition back in November 2016. After her surgery it was determined that she had more medical issues that would not allow her to return to her position as a school kitchen worker, and would require an additional surgery on her shoulder. At which time her doctor initiated a workmen’s comp claim. Her employer and their insurance company as is pretty much Standard Operating Procedure declined the benefits, so we were forced to get an attorney to represent her and the attorney advised her to file for both Social Security Disability Insurance as well as to pursue a Workmen’s Compensation Case against the employer as well as their insurance company. We had heard of horror stories of SSDI taking forever and denying claims but because of the efforts of her attorney she was found to be eligible for SSDI in August of this year (less than 8 months after the initial claim was filed) and she was awarded her workmen’s compensation weekly payment retroactive to January 2017 at the end of November and her case is still pending. It all worked out for the best.

Thank you Carl for sharing your and your wife’s story! There are many horror stories out there and unfortunately we see far too many cases taking that 2 year period of time these days (some even longer). I am happy you were able to obtain good representation and your wife was able to get approved in less than 8 months for her SSDI and her Workers Comp., thereafter. Having the help of someone knoweledgeable in all these types of claims is beneficial. Thank you again for sharing your story and we wish you and your wife all the best for the future.
