Expert Opinion on the Consequences of Catastrophic Injury or Illness Resulting

in Permanent Disability

As a treatment provider and practice manager for an interdisciplinary trauma clinic comprised of several professionals from different healthcare disciplines (physical medicine, neurology, and chiropractic), Dr. Mitchell has almost 20 years of clinical experience in the field of rehabilitation medicine and the return to work of injured individuals.  Most of his cases were in some type of litigation.

This is how he was introduced to the field of rehabilitation counseling.  By hiring a vocational rehabilitation expert for his practice because so many of the attorneys with whom he dealt asked if he knew a good one.

Another factor that influenced Dr. Mitchell’s decision to enter the field of rehabilitation counseling

was a result of his own disability, which forced him to transition to a more sedentary type of work.  Knowing what the rehabilitation expert did for his practice, he decided to investigate this field further.  Dr.Mitchell found that this type of work was intellectually stimulating, and fit very well with his prior clinical experience. Subsequently, he obtained his master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Texas Tech University, a specialty in education and degree in mental health counseling from the University of Florida.  Mr.Mitchell maintains credentials in rehabilitation counseling and vocational assessment, licensure as a chiropractic physician, and is qualified to sit on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Dr. Mitchell’s background and experience in functional limitations and their influence on the ability of a person to return to work has led to him being recognized as an expert in the field of vocational rehabilitation.  As a specialist in education, he is well versed in quantitative and qualitative statistical methods.  He is proficient in the collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data.  His research deals with all aspects of data, including planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments. This training has not only given him the tools to be a good consumer of research, but a creator of new research as well.

If you are looking for an expert with professional and personal experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation, you’ve found him. The combination of personal, educational and clinical experience provides a solid foundation for providing forensic services. This is the foundation for reliable, valid, and relevant opinion that will help the trier of fact in reaching a just decision.
